Yesterday's retreat was very productive! Lots of quilts quilted. I had to do a run to the quilt store for more batting. Here's the results:
Friday night and Saturday morning - finished the Green and White Log Cabin quilt. This was made from fabric from a fabric exchange in 2011 with our scrap group at JoJo's Quilt Shop.
Then I did this pretty Lavender and Green quilt. I have no idea what pattern this was. It was started about 2 years ago but I don't remember what group!
Then on to my "OMG - What was I thinking?" quilt. I did not have enough contrast and just couldn't seem to stop myself. It will make a nice quilt for someone.
Then my Thimbleberry's Crazy Puzzle Quilt from a couple of years back.
And one more - a charity quilt for the NICU locally. They want dark colors to keep the lights out of the incubators.
If you notice, none of the quilts were started in 2012. That means there are 5 more quilts off of my UFO listing! That feels great.
And to show Maggie Moo doesn't just sleep all of the time, she was in her dad's chair watching me take pictures of the quilts. It's a little deceiving to see her here. The chair is an over-sized chair. Hubby is not over-sized - he just likes the big chairs.
Have a wonderful Sunday evening!

Personal Retreat and Disaster Movies
Well - it is the 4th Saturday of the month. That means SyFy has disaster movies on all day. I'm in heaven! This is storm day. So far, New York and Seattle have big issues. I forgot who was hit during the first one. LOL
It is also my personal retreat day. We have left overs for dinner so no cooking. I have sooooooo many UFO's from previous years. My goal today is to quilt 4 quilts - yes, that may be too ambitious but I'm not doing anything special. A simple meander to get the quilts completed so they can be used and loved! Better to meander than to have them not finished at all. I just can't afford to send all of the tops out to be done by a long arm quilter. I can do up to a twin size pretty good now. Working on how to do a queen size effectively but those are going out right now.
I wish you all great health, straight seams and the dream of the fabric fairy who will come in the night to sort and organize our stash for us!

UFO Thoughts for 2012
Mary was teasing me about my latest quilt being quilted and bound. I wanted to share my goals for 2012 in the quilty area of my life. I have committed to myself that anything started in 2012 must be finished in 2012. As you know, there are some if's, and's and but's around that. Like I have one quilt top finished and I do need to send it out to be quilted - I want Koi on the quilt and I just don't think I can do it justice. My rule for me on sending quilts it is I have to save up my "allowance" for anything I'm sending out. The issue is, there's so much pretty fabric coming out, I keep spending my money on fabric. I have to do better!!
Other than the 1 quilt top, so far, so good! All are completed that were started in 2012.
Anyway, I have PLENTY of UFO's from 2011 and earlier so don't fear I will run out of unfinished objects any time soon!
Best wishes to you all and may all your projects be completed!

Quilts and Maggie Moo
Another quilt completed! This is an extra project from Cotton Club. It's now my tablecloth for the spring! It was a fun project to do.
And another posting of Miss Maggie Moo sleeping on the couch. You can't see her head because it is hanging off of the couch. What a dog! She's so funny!

Wounded Warrior Sewing
JoJo's Quilt Shop in Chesterfield, VA is hosting a sewing event every third Tuesday evening of the month for sewing for our soldiers who have been wounded while protecting our nation and our nation's goals. I love this! We had our first gathering last night. We had a good turn out and we had a lot of fun. I didn't know many of these ladies so it was nice to meet them!
I'm hoping I have the names right. Closest to the camera is my very good friend, Carol. The lady with the scarf is Ruby. Next is Diana and I have to admit I cannot recall the other lady's name. I am soooo bad with names.
This is Fran sewing a wonderful quilt with a military insignia. I did not get a picture before she left but it was wonderful! I think she was the only one who almost completed a top.
This is Pam - not me, but another Pam. At least I can remember her name! Not pictured is our fearless leader, Liz. I'll get her picture next time! We are sewing lap size quilts finished in any manner (quilted, tied - whatever). I look forward to using some stash.
And isn't the quilt shop GORGEOUS in the background. This is a fairly new space for JoJo's. They are in the same shopping center as always but moved into a bigger space. I love, love, love the shop. You should come by if you are ever in the area.

The Wayward Girls
The Wayward Girls are three ladies who enjoy each other's company and sewing together. This is pictures of our activities last Saturday. We get together once a month and sew and gab for 12 hours! We also manage to go eat some really good Mexican food at Mexico restaurant.
Mary's Thimbleberry quilt.
Isn't it cute!?! She is so talented. What you can't see here is the variegated thread work at each seam. It is so subtle but adds so much to the quilt.
This is some of Carol's block of the month for the Cotton Club. I'm doing this as well and can't wait to complete the center. Carol is modifying her's a bit and I really like what she has done.
This is my continuing project. It's so close to being completed! It is Carry Nation from the Voices of the Past series by Kaye England. I've really struggled with this quilt. There are so many pieces and they have to be in exactly the right place. The darker blue pieces have a mind of their own and have been everywhere but in the right spot! Maybe one more sew day and it will be completed!
How to put exercise equipment to good use
Forgive the mess in the room but it is a creative mess (window is in my sewing room). Point is - my sweetie dog - Maggie Moo - uses my step for exercising so she can look out the window. She's watching the neighborhood from an upstairs window, making sure no squirrels, birds, dogs or cats are having too much fun without her!
Isn't that just the most boring quilt on the design wall? Light lavender and white - what was I thinking! Well, it will go to a good home to keep someone warm. But I love my spools quilt.

Catching up on Quilts!
I added the size of the quilts if I had the info right here with me - I don't on all of them. Most are under 30" square - except the first one. I hope you enjoy!
This one is called Broken Dishes and Chards - 53 x 66
Amy's Choice from Jo's Little Women Group 10 -
Point of View from Jo's Little Women Group 10 - 21 x 24
Moda Bake Shop's 1800's Reproduction - 20 x 20
I don't remember the name of this one. It is from Lori Smith - Fit to Frame. I modified the design a bit.
HST Challenge - Jo's Little Women Group 10 - 21 x 24
Lizzy's Little Quilt - Jo's Little Women Group 10 - 15 x 17
Redware and Harvest - Jo's Little Women Group 10 - not exactly red but I love it!
28 x 28
Modified Courthouse Steps from Jo's Little Women Group 10 - 18" square.
I took a lot of liberty here and just made a big courthouse step. I really like it!
Pink Dogwood
Every year, it just amazes me how beautiful our pink dogwood is. Troy and I planted this as a baby over 10 years ago. It is just gorgeous!

Happy Easter!
Remembering that Easter is for us - for our eternal lives and salvation.
Here's a tribute to the Wayward Girls - We're 3 crazy chicks!
And don't forget to have some chocolate and enjoy it like a child!
And for the non-chocolate souls (so sorry!) - some colorful candy!
